- Mubashir Husain Rehmani, Munster Technological University, Ireland
Scope
We are facing an era in which the Internet connectivity is hampered by disasters, such as earthquakes, volcano eruptions, flooding, arson attacks of cellular towers, and war attacks of electricity and/or communication networks. The legacy communications networks are not designed to face such unexpected events, which result, in most of cases in a complete loss of coverage for the mobile users in the damaged areas. The goal of this track is therefore to face such issue, and to investigate the possibility of quicky & effectively react to disaster events, by introducing proper disaster management for 5G/6G networks, at all levels - from architectural to functional ones.
The Beyond 5G and Towards 6G applications for Disaster Managementtrack seeks original contributions in the following topical areas, plus others that are not explicitly listed but are closely related :
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor/detect disaster events in 5G/6G networks
- New architectures integrating disaster management in 5G/6G networks
- Measurement of the impact of disaster events on the service of mobile networks
- Non-conventional communication networks (e.g., LEO, UAV, HAPs) to support 5G/6G service upon disaster event
- Design of 5G/6G networks under disaster management constraints
- Efficient management of 5G/6G networks during disaster events
- Automatic detection of disaster events in mobile networks
- Disaster mitigation techniques in 5G/6G networks
- Innovative warning system for disaster notifications in 5G/6G networks
- Disaster management for end-users through innovative Apps in 5G/6G networks
- Spectrum management & sharing techniques during disaster events
- Open RAN solutions for disaster management in 6G networks
